The County of Maui’s Kaunoa Senior Services is organizing a lei-making event on Friday to honor over 4,000 fallen veterans at Maui Veterans Cemetery. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Kaunoa Senior Center, 401 Alakapa Place, Spreckelsville. Tī leaf lei donations are accepted, and volunteers are needed to help with lei making. A drive-thru drop-off will be available, according to the County of Maui.
Kaunoa Senior Services is organizing lei placement on gravestones for Maui, Lānaʻi, and Molokaʻi. A total of 4,192 leis are needed for Maui, 67 for Lānaʻi, and 201 for Molokaʻi. Materials will be provided at the Spreckelsville campus event. Participants can drop off completed leis or make them on site. The leis will be given to Maui County veterans at noon on Friday to place on gravestones ahead of the weekend ceremony, as reported by the County of Maui.
