
The Maui Police Department launched an initiative to support the houseless community in Kihei with various services. On Monday, the Mobile Medical Education Unit was at Kalama Park, offering mental health services and non-critical wound care. Several organizations worked together to provide aid during the event, as stated by the Maui Police Department.
The Maui Police Department reported that the Mobile Medical Education Unit provided services such as food stamps, clothing, and different types of care. The Aloha House offered information on substance use and mental health services to 16 participants. The Maui Aids Foundation distributed food and personal hygiene kits, shared medical QUEST information, and conducted free STD testing for one person.
The Maui Humane Society provided vaccinations and supplies for eight animals belonging to the houseless community. According to the Maui Police Department on their Facebook page, the Mobile Medical Education Unit’s next visit will be at Kalama Park in June, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Residents can access essential services during this time.
