Residents of Lewisville, Corinth, and Denton will have the opportunity to engage in a bit of community exercise and togetherness with their local leaders on Saturday, May 31. The mayors of these neighboring cities are inviting people of all ages to join them for a free, family-friendly community bike ride. According to an announcement on the City of Lewisville's official website, the ride is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. sharp at the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake A-train Station.
The 12.2-mile journey is planned to take participants along the A-train Rail Trail, a scenic route that provides a direct connection from Lewisville, through Corinth, and into the heart of downtown Denton. While the full ride measures over 12 miles, attendees have the option to break off the route at any point, and ride back to the beginning, or catch the DCTA A-train south to return to the starting station. A rest stop is scheduled at Commons at Agora Park in Corinth, where, as described by the City of Lewisville's post, riders can refill their water bottles at the available bottle-filling stations.
Regarding preparations for the event, the City of Lewisville emphasizes the importance of safety by noting, "Riders should bring their bike, helmet, and water." Preceding the start of the ride, participants will be offered a brief bicycle safety demonstration to ensure everyone is equipped with the knowledge to have a safe and enjoyable experience.
For those interested in joining the ride, it's important to note that no registration is required. Parking for the event is available onsite at the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake A-train Station. This initiative is not only a nod to healthy living and community engagement but also an implicit endorsement of the area's infrastructure supporting bicycle commuting and recreation. As to the residents and visitors, this event presents an ideal Saturday morning combining exercise, community spirit, and, the enjoyment of the burgeoning spring climate in Texas.
