The Mentor Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect involved in the robbery of a CVS Pharmacy on Tuesday morning. According to Cleveland19, the suspect entered the CVS located in the 9000 block of Mentor Ave. just prior to 11 a.m. He approached a female cashier, handed her a note demanding money, and gestured to his waistband to suggest the possibility of a concealed weapon.
Reports from FOX8 outlined the suspect's attire as khaki pants and a gray hoodie. After receiving an undisclosed sum of money from the register, the individual fled the scene on foot in the direction of Hopkins Road. The incident prompted an extensive search including K-9 units and drones, yet the suspect has not been apprehended.
In response to this event, a precautionary "shelter in place" was implemented for a brief period at Mentor Memorial Junior High and Hopkins Elementary. This protocol ensured that no one could enter or leave the school buildings, although activities inside continued as usual – a measure detailed by the City of Mentor's official website. Mentor Police officers, who were working inside these schools, were promptly informed of the nearby incident.
