
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that unfolded on Irvington Street in Southwest D.C. this past Saturday evening. Authorities were called to the scene after reports of a shooting around 8:23 p.m. in the 100 block of Irvington Street.
Upon their arrival, MPD officers found a man who was unconscious and not breathing, with signs of having suffered gunshot wounds. Despite efforts made by D.C. Fire and EMS personnel, the man's injuries proved fatal, and he was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The victim has since been identified as 32-year-old Christopher Rashad Riles, a resident of the Southwest district, as detailed by MPD's website.
The case remains active and under investigation, and police are calling on the community for any information relating to the incident. MPD has advertised a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the parties responsible.
