A Mexican national, Juana Maria Garcia-Rosales, has been taken into custody in Temple by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on allegations of possessing a fake Permanent Resident Card and not reporting her change of address, as noted in a statement by the Department of Justice. Officials say Garcia-Rosales was apprehended after a search warrant led police to her residence on May 15.
The criminal complaint against her also details that Garcia-Rosales supposedly confessed to buying the card from a contact in Florida via a social media platform, and she entered the nation back in 2012 using a Border Crosser Card with a different address. Garcia-Rosales is now facing two counts, which are possession of a fraudulent identification and failing to update her residential information – the counts together could lead to a decade in federal lockup.
Acting U.S. Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas announced the arrest, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Frazier at the helm of prosecution.
