A Mexican national has been sentenced to a federal prison term exceeding one year following his guilty plea for illegal reentry into the United States. Emilio Nolasco-Carbajal, a 40-year-old from Mexico, received his sentence from U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara, according to a recent update from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
After his admission of guilt on February 6, Nolasco-Carbajal was handed down a sentence of one year and one day. Court documents indicate a history of deportation for Nolasco-Carbajal, with three prior occurrences dating March 27, 2013, May 5, 2014, and January 25, 2018. Before his last removal, he was also convicted of the same offense. He was discovered in the Hillsborough County Jail by federal immigration authorities on December 16, 2024, where he was held for an unrelated matter.
The investigation was a coordinated effort by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and saw to thoroughly document the repeat offenses. Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang led the prosecution, ensuring that Nolasco-Carbajal's illegal reentry after previous deportations did not go unpunished.
