With an eye towards international diplomacy and community ties, Milwaukee's Sister Cities Day aims to bolster the city's connections that span seven countries. In a statement released by the city council's news advisory, Alderman Stamper expressed Milwaukee's dedication to nurturing its global relationships, "Milwaukee is grateful to have many strong relationships with cities across the world, and Friday’s Meet-and-Greet event offers a unique opportunity to engage with Milwaukee’s peers across oceans and continents." Stamper extended an invitation to the public, to join the celebrations at City Hall.
Representatives from Milwaukee's extended family of sister cities including Abuja, Nigeria; Bomet County, Kenya; Galway, Ireland; Irpin, Ukraine; Kragujevac, Serbia; Tarime District, Tanzania; and Zadar, Croatia, will be present. Visitors can expect a rich cultural tapestry with music, dance, and a taste of international cuisine.
The event is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., with a formal program at 11 a.m., followed by food and refreshments. The entertainment will persist throughout the celebration, which wraps up by 1 p.m. The inclusion of cultural entertainment, music, and food, are meant to provide attendees with an immersive experience of Milwaukee's sister cities.
