Minneapolis is casting lines and inviting families to take part in Take a Kid Fishing Day this Saturday, June 7, giving adults a chance to introduce the younger generation to the joys of fishing. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is spearheading the events at four scenic locations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Minnesota's Take a Kid Fishing Weekend, an annual event from June 6-8 designed to foster a connection between youth and outdoor activities.
To reel in some fun and promote environmental awareness, state residents aged 16 or older have the opportunity to legally take a child 15 or younger fishing without needing a license. According to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the chosen parks for this event include Boom Island Park by the Riverfront Plaza, the Bandshell Dock at Lake Harriet, the North Dock at Lake Nokomis, and the Boat Launch Dock over at Wirth Lake.
Pre-registration is suggested, although the event itself is free of charge. To register, you can click over to the event’s official page.
