In a recent sting operation, the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), aided by other law enforcement agencies, captured a man linked to a car theft and hazardous driving behavior that gained notoriety on the internet. The arrest was announced in a social media post by MPD. The video that sparked the investigation depicted the suspect executing high-speed maneuvers, an activity commonly referred to as "doughnuts," and according to authorities, was seemingly a provocation aimed at the police.
Despite the challenges such incidents pose, the MPD reiterated its stance against engaging in high-speed pursuits to safeguard the public from potential harm. The arrest, made on the 3700 block of Portland Avenue, involved the suspect operating a stolen vehicle and the unlawful possession of a firearm. Additionally, two others were apprehended during the operation.
"Thanks to our partner agencies for their critical assistance in getting a dangerous driver and suspected car thief off the streets," the MPD stated.
