As summer rolls in with its promise of sunny leisure, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety reminds us of the sobering reality lurking on our roads. Dubbed the "100 Deadliest Days," the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is notorious for a spike in traffic fatalities. On this note, a recent social media post from the department emphasized the collaborative effort to thwart this seasonal surge in roadway tragedies. Information sourced from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Facebook page stresses the importance of collective action from various agencies and individuals.
Key strategies to mitigate the risk include enforcing the fundamental safe driving practices: wear a seatbelt every time, drive sober, stay focused by putting your phone down, and obeying speed limits—but the message is clear, everyone plays a role, with personal responsibility at the forefront, as noted by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The Minnesota State Patrol, alongside the Iowa State Patrol and South Dakota Highway Patrol, is spearheading outreach efforts.
"Together, we can make this summer safer for everyone on the road. Let’s all do our part," the Minnesota Department of Public Safety stated.
