As warm weather returns, Minnetonka families are flocking to local parks. Driving this renewed outdoor activity is a new park finder map, developed by Amy Knapp from the Communications Division and public works GIS developers, aligning park amenities with community needs. "If there’s play sand, there’s a chance my boys will never want to leave," Knapp expressed in a statement made by Minnetonka's official website.

Of the city’s 54 parks, about half have playgrounds. As the outdoor season ramps up, public works inspectors are actively ensuring everything is safe and ready for use. As Eileen Connors from Minnetonka Public Works puts it, "We’ll make repairs where we spot potential problems." Connors also mentioned the community's role in maintaining these spaces: "We also appreciate it when visitors let us know when they see something that concerns them," according to the City of Minnetonka.

Groveland and Sunrise parks are set to get new equipment this year, while Meadow and GroTonka—two of the city’s larger parks—have recently been upgraded with new playgrounds, Connors notes, as per the City of Minnetonka.
