George Beidler, the 77-year-old veteran who was reported missing earlier, has been located, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office confirmed today through a brief social media update. Beidler, who was diagnosed with dementia, had last been seen at his home in the Walden Chase neighborhood in Ponte Vedra.
When the search began, Beidler was said to be driving a red Ram 1500 truck with a Harley-Davidson sticker on its back window and bearing the license plate number NMA3I. The community was asked to be on the lookout and to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office with any sightings.
The circumstances of Beidler's disappearance and the details of how he was found have not been released. However, the swift resolution to this case speaks to the efficacy of the alert systems and the public’s responsiveness to such notifications. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office's post expressed no further details beyond the confirmation of Beidler's location.
The sheriff's office has not provided any information on Beidler's condition upon being found or where he was during the time he was unaccounted for.
