The Maui Police Department has successfully located Makana Hoe, the 34-year-old Kahului man who had been reported missing since Sunday. In a brief social media update, the department shared that Hoe was found to be in good health and expressed gratitude to the public for their help in locating him. The notice of Hoe being found was posted by the Maui Police Department on Facebook.
Prior to his discovery, concerns grew after Makana Hoe left his residence on the evening of May 4th and did not return. He was last observed departing in a white Toyota multi-purpose vehicle, bearing Hawaii license plate MHY-589, as reported by Hoodline. The Maui community, along with Hoe's family voiced their worry when the search commenced under clear skies, which was thought to aid in search efforts.
The Maui Police Department had asked for the public’s help, and the strong community response showed how much people cared. Anyone who had information was told to contact the police at 808-244-6400 or call 911 in an emergency, using report number 25-012992.
