Commuters who frequently traverse the intersection of South Eatherton Road and Route 109 will need to seek alternative paths starting at the dawn of May 27. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a scheduled closure of this corridor to facilitate the construction of a new traffic roundabout. This necessary yet inconvenient development is part of a broader transportation improvement initiative that aims to enhance traffic flow and safety in the region.
With crews set to begin work at 6 a.m., local residents should prepare to adjust their itineraries, as access to Route 109 from South Eatherton Road will be barred for an estimated month's duration. Although MoDOT has promised to maintain access to all residences along South Eatherton Road, these same individuals will find themselves having to navigate northwards towards Chesterfield Valley to find passage out of their own homes.
This isn't the first time MoDOT has orchestrated roadworks that necessitate detours and patience; such interventions are a recognized part of urban living—a necessary evil, we might say. The prescribed detour involves leveraging the connectivity offered by Chesterfield Airport Road and Route CC, including Long Road and Wild Horse Creek Road, presenting a viable, albeit less direct, route to Route 109.
The disruption is slated to persist through to July as crews work diligently to connect South Eatherton Road to this new traffic solution, a roundabout, purposed to ease the stresses of our collective journey. MoDOT's announcement, cautioning travelers to plan accordingly and to approach this temporary change with a degree of planning and patience, can be found in full detail on their website.
