
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that turned fatal in Southeast D.C. In an incident unfolding late Wednesday night, officers arrived at the 2400 block of Elvans, Southeast, in response to a report of gunfire.
According to the official MPD news release, the incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. Seventh District officers discovered an adult male victim, unresponsive and showing no signs of life, with evident gunshot wounds. Despite the best efforts of DC Fire and EMS who rushed to the scene, the man was pronounced dead after attempts at resuscitation proved unsuccessful.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Ricky Jones, a resident of Southeast, D.C. The case is being treated as a homicide, and the police are actively seeking any information related to the crime.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any relevant details that could aid their investigation. The MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in connection to any homicide.
