In a move against child exploitation, the Hawai‘i Police Department has brought charges against Nā‘ālehu resident Dawson Dominador Pilanca, aged 43. Arising from allegations of child sexual exploitation, Pilanca faces charges of second-degree promoting child abuse and third-degree promoting child abuse, as per the Hawaii Police Department. Arrested last Thursday, May 1, his bail has been set at $100,000, and he remains in custody awaiting his appearance in Kona District Court.
The penetrating eyes of the community are now fixed on an investigation that kicked off in December last year following a cyber tip. While in custody, awaiting a court hearing set for the following day, over 70 graphic videos involving minors were uncovered from Pilanca's mobile device. According to the Hawaii Police Department, Vice detectives, who partnered with the Hawai‘i ICAC Task Force, led a meticulous probe into the accused's activities.
The Hawai‘i Police Department has maintained an uncompromising stance towards child exploitation within the community. "We will pursue every lead, use every tool, and partner across agencies to protect our keiki and bring offenders to justice," the department's resolute announcement in the Nixle statement highlighted.
