Early Sunday morning, the streets of Nashville set the stage for a high-stakes pursuit as Metro police apprehended a convicted felon driving a stolen Cadillac Escalade. WSMV reports that the vehicle, reported stolen from Brentwood, was initially spotted "recklessly driving" on Dickerson Pike near Hancock Street. When the sergeant attempted to enact a stop, 33-year-old Tyson Oglesby, the driver, decided to flee and began a chase that would take him onto I-24.

Oglesby's escape effort came to a halt after he pulled off the interstate and stopped in a parking lot on 4th Avenue. There, according to WKRN, undercover detectives managed to block the stolen Escalade. Despite Oglesby's subsequent resistance, officers were able to take him into custody. The involvement of a semi-automatic pistol, found on the floorboard of the driver's side, added a layer of gravity to the incident, given Oglesby's prior convictions.

Those convictions, as FOX17 News highlighted, stem from cocaine and gun-related crimes in 2020 and 2022, for which Oglesby received sentences of six and four years, respectively. Now back in police custody, he faces a series of fresh charges.

Oglesby is being held on a $103,000 bond at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, with the list of charges including felony vehicle theft, felony evading arrest, and possession of a firearm as a felon, among others.
