Western North Carolina will see its graduates honored by Governor Josh Stein during upcoming commencement ceremonies. In recognition of the students' persistence and achievements, Stein is scheduled to deliver speeches at Appalachian State University, Western Carolina University, and Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College next Friday and Saturday, according to a recent statement.
"These graduates, many of whom already had their education disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, have demonstrated tremendous resilience in the face of adversity following Hurricane Helene," said Governor Stein, proud to witness their determination and grit. Having been battled, not only by academic challenges but by the raging forces of nature, these students have emerged ready to start a new chapter.
The commencement ceremonies will begin on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Appalachian State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Questions about the event can be directed to [email protected]. The following day, Governor Stein will speak at Western Carolina University's undergraduate commencement at 10:00 a.m.; inquiries may be sent to [email protected]. Finally, he will attend Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College's Spring Commencement at 2:00 p.m.
