The Nevada Department of Transportation will start road work on a 20-mile section of U.S. Highway 95 near Searchlight on May 28. During the work, the highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Temporary ramps will be used to manage cross traffic. This phase of the project, including milling and temporary setups, will last about four weeks. The work is part of a roadway rehabilitation project, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
The Nevada Department of Transportation work schedule runs from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, until November 25. Work will pause on holidays and special occasions. Motorists are advised to stay alert in work zones and consider alternative routes when possible for safety.
The Nevada Department of Transportation project includes milling and paving work, new signage and striping, hydraulic and drainage improvements, fence repair, and the installation of tortoise fencing to protect local wildlife.
