Mayor Eric Adams is set to leave New York for the glitz of Las Vegas, where he will be a speaker at a Bitcoin conference hosted by DNA House. Adams, who recently presided over the city's first-ever Crypto Summit, continues to build his rapport within the cryptocurrency industry. His travels, revealed by the New York Post, are affirmed as being covered by taxpayer dollars, designated as official mayoral business.

The Gothamist reports that the "Bitcoin 2025" conference is slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, with more than 400 speakers, including Adams. In Vegas, announced last night, known tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, former presidential candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and J.D. Vance, and the current Vice President, will join him on the lineup of prominent figures.

During last week's NYC Crypto Summit, Adams voiced his undeterred enthusiasm for the cryptocurrency sector, with a belief in its capabilities for economic growth and innovation. He has even established a digital asset advisory council aimed at bringing more crypto jobs to the city. "The age of tokenization, which includes crypto and blockchain and other fintech innovations, that age is here, and we're going to continue to move forward with it," Adams stated, as per the New York Post.

Adams' office confirmed his scheduled talk at the "The Trust Layer & the Divine Algorithm" seminar, set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., as reported by the Gothamist. The seminar, interesting for those in the field, will explore DEAI, trust architecture, and DeFi. Joining Adams on his trip are Deputy Mayor for Intergovernmental Affairs Tiffany Raspberry and NYC’s Chief Technology Officer, Matt Fraser, which City Hall has not immediately responded to when asked about the use of taxpayer dollars to fund the travels.

Press Secretary Kayla Mamelak underscored Adams's ongoing interest in cryptocurrency. "On the heels of our first-ever Digital Assets and Crypto Summit, Mayor Adams will attend the 2025 Bitcoin Conference to continue building connections in this growing industry to boost our local economy, attract top talent, and inspire innovation in New York City," as reported by the New York Post. The conference is being held at Maggiano’s Las Vegas from May 27-29.
