Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies across Northern Nevada participated in the 25th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Relay Run. A social media post from the Reno Police Department described the department's involvement in the relay, which honored Nevada's fallen law enforcement officers.
The 9-day event, which started in Las Vegas on April 23 and ended on April 30 in Carson City, covered a distance of over 400 miles. On Tuesday, the Reno Police Department announced on its Facebook page, "Yesterday, April 29, 2025, the Reno Police Department proudly joined fellow agencies in honoring Nevada’s fallen peace officers who gave their lives in the line of duty."
According to the Reno Police Department on their Facebook page, the run in Carson City marks the start of National Police Memorial Week, a time to honor fallen officers. The baton carries 157 names of officers who lost their lives in service, with the names eventually placed at the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. "This run marks the beginning of National Police Memorial Week, taking place in mid-May—a time to remember, reflect, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice," said the Reno Police Department.
