An Oakland County couple landed a dazzling $2 million jackpot with their anniversary scratch-off. This hefty win was scored on a "Diamonds & Gold" game purchased at Opdyke Featherstone Mobil located at 810 North Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
"We scratched this ticket off together on our wedding anniversary and my husband noticed the $2 million prize first," the 44-year-old anonymous winner disclosed to ABC12, after scanning the ticket in-store and later through a friend's Lottery app; the result left her in "total shock."
Opting for immediate gratification, the couple chose a lump sum payment of approximately $1.3 million over annuity payments, a decision that enabled plans on buying a house, investing, and socking away funds for their kids' college educations, The Oakland Press adds.
With this game launched just over a year ago, in March 2024, "Diamonds & Gold" has already dished out $54 million in winnings while still teasing players with over $49 million in remaining prizes, including another $2 million top prize, as per the Michigan Lottery officials' statement, all this according to the details shared by ClickOnDetroit.
