Oklahoma City is facing a dynamic array of weather conditions as the National Weather Service forecasts indicate a mix of sun, showers, and thunderstorms over the coming days. Today's weather should be quite pleasant, with sunny skies and a high near 86 degrees, according to the NWS Oklahoma City. Winds will be mild, coming in from the south southwest at around 6 to 8 mph. Visibility remains clear at 10 miles as of the last update at 7:52 am CDT.
The tranquility of the day, however, is expected to give way to increasing clouds tonight, foreshadowing a 60% chance of precipitation with a possibility of showers and thunderstorms before 10 pm, shifting into likely showers and possible thunderstorms between 10 pm and 1 am, and then transitions back to a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 am. South winds will be calming down and becoming variable after midnight with new rainfall that could measure between a half and three-quarters of an inch. Sunday slight chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast before 7 am, after that, though the skies should clear up, giving way to sunshine with the high, gently hovering near 84 degrees.
A mostly clear Sunday night with a low around 66 prepares us for a mostly sunny Monday and temperatures again climbing to the mid-80s; however, the calm won't last as Monday night brings a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 am. As the week progresses, the likelihood of rain increases, with Tuesday showing a 60% probability for showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon. The NWS Oklahoma City points out that some of these storms could come with heavy rainfall, especially Tuesday night when the chance of precipitation elevates to an assertive 80%.
Wednesday, residents can expect a continuation of potential wet weather, with showers and possible thunderstorms after 1 pm, and a high near 75 degrees. The pattern of precipitation remains persistent through the week, with chances of showers and storms hovering around 30% to 40% nearly every night through Friday.
