
An unfortunate roadway incident in Olive Township left a 15-year-old girl with serious injuries, following a collision that saw both vehicles ending up in a nearby field, reports WZZM 13. The crash occurred late Saturday afternoon at around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of 104th Avenue and Van Buren Street. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the teenage driver was pinned in her car necessitating extrication before being transported with critical injuries to a local hospital.
The MLive account indicates the driver from Jenison was southbound, executed a U-turn, and failed to stop at the sign, she entered the intersection as a northbound Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 26-year-old Zeeland man, collided with her Kia Niro, despite his attempt to evade the teen's vehicle, after which both vehicles crashed sending them through the ditch, both vehicles ended up in a field post the collision.
Further details provided by WOODTV clarify that the Chevrolet tried to sidestep the unavoidable crash but both vehicles rolled, with the accident concluding in the northwest corner of the intersection. The other driver did not sustain injuries, however, one of his passengers, a 24-year-old woman from West Olive was reported to have minor injuries. This incident remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the circumstances of the crash.
