
A tragic incident unfolded in Granger this past Friday morning when a home explosion left one person dead and another critically injured. According to a report by KXAN, the Williamson County Emergency Communications received a call at approximately 9:50 a.m. about the explosion located on South Gabriel Street. Following the incident, emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, where they found an adult woman deceased and an elderly man who was promptly transported by helicopter to the hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the house explosion is currently under investigation by the Williamson County Fire Marshal’s Office. CBS Austin reported that South Gabriel Street was closed from Old County Road to Wolf Street to allow emergency personnel to efficiently respond to the scene, and to assure no further threats to neighboring structures were present.
Responding to the disaster were multiple agencies including Granger Fire, Hutto Fire, Bartlett Fire, Taylor Fire, Williamson County EMS, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Granger Police Department, Justice of the Peace Pct. 4, death investigators, Williamson County Office of Emergency Management, and Fire Marshals from Liberty Hill, Taylor, Jarrell, and Cedar Park.
While families and neighbors are undoubtedly shaken by the sudden loss and injury, communities rally to support one another in times of tragedy. Assistance and investigation from the various responding agencies continue to thoroughly understand and avoid similar incidents in the future. The condition of the elderly man remains closely monitored at the hospital where he was taken following the explosion.
