
A tragic incident unfolded in Clay County as a man lost his life and four individuals sustained serious injuries in a vehicle collision. The crash occurred around midnight at the intersection of State Road 100 and Sunrise Boulevard, according to First Coast News.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported a 58-year-old driver of a sedan, who ran a stop sign on Sunrise Boulevard, collided into the front end of an oncoming SUV. Action News JAX noted that the man, hailing from Keystone Heights, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further details from WCJB reveal that, along with the deceased, the sedan driver and three passengers were severely injured in the impact. These individuals were transported to an area hospital, where they are currently reported to be in serious condition.
Authorities continue to probe the circumstances leading up to the collision, as to the community grapples with the sudden and violent disruption thrust into an otherwise ordinary night. The Florida Highway Patrol has not released additional information on the identities of those involved nor on the current condition of the injured parties.
