
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively conducting inquiries into a shooting incident in Congress Heights that tragically took the life of one man and left two others injured. According to an official announcement from the department, the incident took place on Monday, in the 3400 block of 13th Place, Southeast.
Reports indicate that Seventh District officers were dispatched to the scene following a distress call received at approximately 1:59 p.m., where they discovered two men within an apartment, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite all efforts by DC Fire and EMS to save one victim, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old James Robinson of Southeast, DC, as per the police department's statement.
The second victim, found in the same location, received immediate medical attention and was transported to the hospital with injuries considered not to be life-threatening. A third victim was located separately in the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast, also wounded by gunfire. This individual was conscious and breathing when found and was promptly taken to an area hospital for treatment.
As investigations continue, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this case to come forward. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this homicide.
