Darius Stephone Nichols, a 20-year-old father, was arrested following the catastrophic loss of his 3-month-old baby, Nova, who suffered fatal injuries. Nichols has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse, according to WFTV.
Details of the distressing case emerged when the Orange County Sheriff’s Office provided its account. Deputies relayed that Nichols initially claimed the infant became unresponsive after falling from a couch last Wednesday. Nevertheless, an autopsy revealed baby Nova had endured multiple skull fractures and several healing rib fractures indicative of previous abuse. In a solemn proclamation on social media, the Orange County Sheriff's Office stated, "In her short life, baby Nova suffered horrific abuse and trauma. She is resting peacefully now, and our detectives will get justice for baby Nova." ClickOrlando reported extensively on these heart-wrenching findings.
