Over 20 residents from the Spring Meadow Apartment Complex in Knoxville have been displaced after a fire extensively damaged part of the facility last Saturday. Crews battled to control the blaze. Officials reported that the fire began on the second floor, with flames breaking out at around 5:15 p.m., as firefighters faced heavy fire emerging from the building's roof. According to WVLT, the Knoxville Fire Department's efforts controlled the situation within approximately 40 minutes.

No casualties emerged from the incident, though one firefighter required on-scene medical attention due to a minor medical issue. Around 22 residents, along with three dogs and two cats, were affected by the fire, but they managed to escape without injuries. The American Red Cross and apartment management are assisting the displaced individuals. Images shared with WBIR displayed the severity of the fire as crews diligently worked on the site.

The building that caught fire consists of eight units; four suffered heavy fire, smoke, and water damage, while the rest were impacted by smoke damage. WATE reported that the conflagration forced the temporary closure of a nearby road as crews laid out additional water supplies to tackle the fire. It required the aid of multiple ladder trucks as firefighters experienced a significant pushback from the unforgiving flames. Ongoing investigations by KFD hope to uncover the cause of the fire, which remains unknown.
