A suspect has been arrested in Ventura County following an alleged road rage incident that involved gunfire aimed at an occupied vehicle. The encounter happened on April 9th near the crossroads of Hueneme and Raytheon roads, as confirmed by a press release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Heavy traffic in the early hours of the morning exacerbated tensions, leading to the violent exchange.
After a thorough investigation conducted by the Camarillo Investigation Bureau, the suspect, identified as Jose Luciano Valdez, a 31-year-old Oxnard resident, was apprehended on May 9th. Detectives, with the aid of various investigative means, including serving search warrants on Valdez's vehicle and residence, discovered two illegally owned firearms along with over 100 rounds of ammunition in their search.
Currently held at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility, Valdez's bail has been set at $80,000. Facing a series of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and unlawful transfer of a firearm, Valdez is awaiting court proceedings.
The seriousness of Valdez's offenses is underscored by the charges listed, comprising assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a concealed weapon in public, among others.
