Early Friday morning, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while inside the HOV lane on I-45 Northbound, causing traffic delays and prompting an investigation by METRO police. The incident, which occurred around 5:45 a.m. near Almeda Genoa Road, left the pedestrian injured and necessitated their transportation to the hospital; however, details on their condition were not immediately available. While running the investigation within the agency’s jurisdiction that includes the HOV lanes throughout the Houston area, METRO officials closed the impacted HOV lane as crews worked the scene. Drivers, expecting traffic as the morning progressed, were snagged in delays, and authorities advised looking for alternative routes when travelling through the afflicted area. This information was substantiated by CW39, who also noted that the accident was cleared from the scene shortly after 6 a.m.
