Penn Hills Police are investigating a vehicle that crashed into a Citizens Bank branch on Saltsburg Road this past Saturday. The incident involved a two-vehicle accident with injuries, and another vehicle colliding with the structure. According to a report by CBS News Pittsburgh, police arrived to find the vehicle embedded in the front of the bank.
Initial reports suggested the vehicle was ablaze, but responders later clarified that steam from the car's radiator, not flames, was seen. EMS personnel evaluated the driver of the other involved vehicle on the scene. As reported by WTAE, the driver who crashed into the bank fled on foot post-collision. As of yesterday afternoon, their whereabouts remained unknown, and it was unclear if they had been taken into custody.
The condition of the drivers and the motive for the rapid departure of the one responsible for the bank crash are both currently wrapped in ambiguity. WPXI detailed that the Penn Hills No. 7 Volunteer Fire Company found the errant vehicle with severe front damage, indicating the impact's intensity. Medics at the scene checked one driver for injuries, however the nature and severity of these injuries have not been disclosed.
