The thrill of the ride just got official in Pennsylvania, with the Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood being named the top roller coaster in America by USA Today's 10Best list. The vote of confidence is no small feat for the West Mifflin-based amusement park, which soared to the pinnacle from last year's third-place finish. According to Audacy, the coaster treats visitors to a “frighteningly close” experience to the Thunderbolt coaster and boasts a 232-foot drop, propelling riders at 85 miles per hour.

Not to be left in the shadows, Pennsylvania's fondness for amusement parks was spotlighted, with three of its parks in the top 10. WGAL reported that Knoebels, flaunting its status as the largest free admission park in the U.S., rolled in at No. 2, and Hersheypark sweetened the No. 8 spot. Along with the top-ranked Phantom’s Revenge, three other Pennsylvania coasters cut, with Phoenix at Knoebels and Waldameer Park's Ravine Flyer II, and Hersheypark's Wildcat's Revenge coming in at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 9, respectively.

Kennywood, in particular, had more than just its roller coaster to celebrate. In a report by the Daily American, the park received accolades as the fifth-best amusement park nationwide. In a heartfelt video announcement, Kennywood's General Manager, Ricky Spicuzza, said, "We're so honored and excited to hold this prestigious award for this legendary ride, and we want to thank you, our loyal fans, for everything you do for us here at Kennywood."

Kennywood has also announced significant developments with the reopening of its Steel Curtain roller coaster after an extensive year-long renovation. Having opened the gates for its 2025 season on April 12, the park has introduced the new Kennywood Junction themed activity area to its offerings.
