Philadelphia residents can expect a mixed bag of weather conditions in the coming week, starting with mostly cloudy skies and a pleasant high near 75 degrees today. The tranquility of the north breeze shall swing west come afternoon, providing a subtle shift in the air's embrace, according to the latest update from the National Weather Service Philadelphia.
Tonight, the city faces a 30% chance of showers with potentially less than a tenth of an inch of new precipitation, the low hovering around a mild 63 degrees; as we creep into Friday, the likelihood of rain increases to 60% with showers expected mainly after 2 p.m. alongside a high nearing 79, patchy fog is also possible before 8am, but calm winds changing to a southwest direction by afternoon may disperse the mist before it lingers too long. Friday night, predicts showers, a possible thunderstorm, and up to three quarters of an inch of new rainfall, with a low around 59 degrees.
The weekend won't offer much reprieve from the damp conditions — Saturday brings an 80% chance of showers and perhaps a thunderstorm with up to a quarter of an inch of additional rain, though amounts could be higher in stormy areas, the day's high reaching 72 degrees while a calm west wind will kick up to between 5 and 10 mph. Saturday night is set to follow a similar pattern, with anticipated thunderstorms before 11 p.m. and a slight chance of showers until the early hours, with a temperature drop to about 52 degrees overnight.
However, relief is in sight for Sunday as skies are set to clear up, granting Philadelphians a mostly sunny day with a comfortable high around 70. This pleasant weather is slated to extend into the beginning of next week, with clear to partly cloudy night skies and sunny days boasting highs ascending gradually from 75 on Monday "to a sunny high near 82 by Wednesday," as the NWS Philadelphia reports, marking a promising start to June with warmer temperatures and brighter days ahead.
