As residents of Phoenix brace for a variety of weather conditions this week, the National Weather Service has provided an extended forecast that promises a mix of sunny skies and climbing temperatures. In an update given early this morning, the service predicted a mostly sunny day today, with a high near 83 degrees and calm winds shifting westward.
By nightfall, the skies are expected to remain clear, with the temperature gently descending to around 65 degrees. The weather pattern holds steady into Thursday, where the sun will shine again and take temperatures up to an even warmer 93 degrees. Despite the warmth brought by the sun, a calm wind is said to persist, wavering to the west in the afternoon.
As we head into the weekend, the heat intensifies. Friday's forecast hits a blazing high near 101 degrees. It comes with a light east wind, making a gradual switch to the west-southwest later in the day. And the mercury doesn't stop climbing there. Saturday's high could reach up to 104 degrees with the possibility of 20 mph wind gusts to provide some relief from the simmering heat.
Temperatures will linger in the triple digits Sunday as well, maintaining a high around 104 degrees. Gusting as high as 20 mph, the east wind will switch to southwest in the afternoon. The evenings are barely cooling down to the high 70s. Monday offers a mild reprieve, dipping marginally to a high near 98 degrees while carrying the potential for gusty winds.
The forecast anticipates a mostly sunny day on Tuesday with a high near 92 degrees, accessorized with a south-southwest wind featuring gusts that can reach up to 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
