
Over the weekend, a tragic incident unfolded near downtown Phoenix, where a woman was fatally stabbed while attempting to defuse a disagreement. Phoenix Police were dispatched to Central Avenue and Watkins Street just after 7:30 p.m. last Saturday, according to a report by FOX 10 Phoenix.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered 35-year-old Stephanie Barr with a stab wound. She was promptly, transported to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. A 53-year-old man, identified as William Washington, was located in the vicinity and arrested soon after.
Further investigation revealed the stabbing stemmed from an altercation between Washington and another man. Sergeant Brian Bower said, "Barr attempted to separate the two and was stabbed by Washington during the altercation," in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. Subsequently, Washington was charged with second-degree murder and booked into jail.
An additional report from ABC 15 Arizona indicates, that the fatal interaction took a turn when Washington drew a knife amidst his argument with another individual. It is alleged that, Stephanie Barr was intervening to separate the two when Washington stabbed her. Police managed to take Washington into custody without further incident on the night of the attack.
