Pierce County urges residents to step up to the plate, as many local public offices have noticeably empty chairs. A special filing period from May 14-16 is set for positions with no candidates during the traditional time slot. The call to public service includes council posts in the Town of South Prairie and commissioner roles across various fire protection, water, and sewer districts.
According to an announcement on Pierce County's official website, the special three-day window is meant to fill vacancies in numerous districts. Candidates who manage to file quickly will see their names on the General Election ballot, foregoing the need for a Primary Election. Time is of the essence, and locals with an interest in public service should aim to take advantage of the period decisively.
Those interested in filing can do so online starting at 8:30 a.m. on May 14, with the process closing at 4:30 p.m. on May 16. Pierce County has streamlined the candidate declaration by providing a "File for Office" link on their elections webpage. In-person submissions are welcome at the County Election Center during business hours on the dates mentioned earlier for those who potentially prefer to put a face to a name or simply like to do things the old-fashioned way.
