An incident in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood on Tuesday morning prompted an investigation after shots were fired from a vehicle. The police were called to Melba Place at approximately 9:30 a.m. following reports of gunshots. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, a woman inside the vehicle fired at an adult man on the street before quickly fleeing the scene.
No injuries or property damage were reported, and although police arrived swiftly, they could not locate the targeted man. However, officers took statements from several witnesses, as the search for more evidence continues. The City of Pittsburgh adds that officers actively review surveillance videos to organize the chain of events.
The vehicle involved in the shooting was later found in Zone 6, an area that encompasses several communities within the city. It is not clear yet where exactly the vehicle was found. Following the discovery of the car, officers from the Auto Squad are processing it for potential evidence that might further aid in resolving the case.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with authorities working to better understand not just the motive but also the events leading up to this public display of violence.
