District Five detectives are canvassing for the public's assistance in identifying four suspects linked to a robbery that took place in DeBaliviere Place on the night of April 25. According to an SLMPD report, a 24-year-old man was encircled by two young men and two young women after which a series of demands marred what began as a quiet evening.
The victim recounted that the incident occurred around 10 p.m. near Debaliviere & Pershing Avenues when one of the male suspects engaged him in conversation and subsequently asked for his earbuds. The situation reportedly escalated when the suspect insisted on the item while alluding to a potential weapon concealed in a fanny pack, prompting the man to surrender his earbuds. "The 24-year-old stated he feared there was a weapon inside the fanny pack at that point," details the SLMPD report.
Following the initial demand, the suspect then set his sights on the man's phone. Attempted alternatives, such as offering send money electronically, were rejected by the suspect, ultimately leading to the victim parting with his phone after it was demanded a second time by the suspect. The group allegedly fled posthaste, leaving no injuries in their wake. The police's search for these individuals is active and they have not yet reported any arrests in this case.
