Ramsey County has chosen Nadir Abdi as their new Deputy County Manager of the Health and Wellness Service Team, an announcement that came after a thorough selection process initiated earlier this year. Known for his tenure as the Director of Employment and Economic Assistance at Dakota County since 2020, Abdi is set to bring his substantial experience to one of Minnesota's most diverse and populous territories. “Nadir brings a depth of experience in public service leadership, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to community well-being,” County Manager Ling Becker said in a statement obtained by the Ramsey County press team.
Starting July 14th, Abdi will formally step into his role to not only supervise but also to strategically improve the service offerings of the Health and Wellness team. He is tasked to thoroughly integrate the board policies into operational efficacy, further aiming to address residents' needs from a comprehensive perspective. Abdi has notably been at the forefront of advocating for systems modernization in his former role, lobbying at the state legislature for changes meant to directly better the lives of employees and those they serve.
At Dakota County, Abdi has a record of developing innovative programs that benefit the community, such as the enhanced contact center for public assistance users. This initiative introduced self-service tools and improved data access, which has led to stronger analytics, reduced call times, and provided clients with real-time case information.
