
In Rapides Parish, Louisiana, the Sheriff’s Office has arrested 47-year-old Tony Hicks in connection with the theft of nearly 500 pounds of crawfish. According to the Louisiana Radio Network, the thefts led law enforcement to launch “Operation Tail Chaser,” which resulted in Hicks' arrest.
KALB reported that the stolen crawfish totaled between 400 and 500 pounds and significantly impacted at least one local farmer. Hicks was taken into custody following a traffic stop last Sunday. He is also facing multiple charges, including criminal trespass, contempt of court, and illegal possession of firearms.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, working with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, identified Hicks as the main suspect. As per the WWLTV, Hicks is currently being held on a $61,700 bond. His charges include running a stop sign, driving under suspension, contempt of court, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, trespassing, criminal trespassing, and three counts of unauthorized use of a movable. The Sheriff’s Office noted that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
