
The Colma Police Department has reported the arrest of a repeat offender for multiple violations, including theft, drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrants. On May 9, Colma Officers responded to a call from the BevMo located at 4615 Junipero Serra Boulevard after a man was reported to have stolen alcohol. According to the police report on the Colma Police Department's Facebook page, the store manager spotted the suspect loitering near Michael’s store roughly 20 minutes after the theft.
Upon arrival at approximately 4:43 PM, officers found a man matching the description provided and detained him. After the detention, BevMo's manager positively identified him as the culprit. During his arrest and upon searching, officers found burglary tools and drug paraphernalia. The suspect initially gave a fake name but ultimately revealed his true identity. Dispatchers conducted a records check on the man, showing a felony warrant and two misdemeanors lurking behind his true name.
The perpetrator, identified as Cuong Lam, a 56-year-old from San Francisco, was discovered to have a criminal history marked by two prior theft convictions. Under the implications of Proposition 36, Lam faced an uplifted charge of felony theft with priors. He was additionally charged with shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, providing false identification to peace officers, along with the execution of his three warrants. Lam has since been booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
