Following a lengthy investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office into a fatal overdose in Riverview, a man has been charged with murder. On November 19, 2023, after receiving a distress call, deputies found 23-year-old Jordan Johnson unresponsive at a residence on Hancock Street. Later transported to a hospital, Johnson was pronounced dead.
Detectives singled out Quadrian Harris, 32, as the individual liable for providing the narcotics that led to the fatal incident. Harris was initially arrested on November 30, 2023, on charges of trafficking in fentanyl, 4–14 grams, and resisting arrest without violence, at which time, he was also found in possession of an additional 14 grams of fentanyl. He was released on bond, December 2, 2023.
The investigation persisted, and in April 2024, the substances in question were confirmed to contain fentanyl by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Following these findings, detectives acquired a charge of First-Degree Murder resulting from the Delivery of a Controlled Substance, approved by the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office.
More than a year after the initial arrest, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force apprehended Harris in Tampa, according to a statement obtained by Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He was taken into custody yesterday, without any reported incident. Sheriff Chad Chronister underscored the seriousness of the arrest, saying, "This arrest is a reminder that drug dealers who poison our communities with deadly substances will be held accountable." Calling the incident "not just a drug deal" but "a deadly transaction that cost a young man his life," Chronister expressed his office's dedication to ensuring justice for victims and their grieving families.
While the case against Harris progresses, officials have emphasized that this remains an active investigation. For future updates, they've directed inquiries to the Public Affairs Office.
