Wall Street is about to to get a taste of Rome as Nerolab sets up shop at 40 Wall Street, previously intended to be a Dean & DeLuca store. After a lengthy vacancy, the space at the Trump Building is bustling again, bringing a slice of Italy to the Financial District. Nerolab's 350-seat establishment will serve Roman-style pizza, pastas, and a variety of Italian staples, alongside coffee and an array of beverages. Announced earlier this spring, the upscale eatery has already garnered attention for its multifunctional design, suitable for both dining and coworking with the added perk of Wi-Fi, as detailed by Eater New York.
Developed over the past three years, Nerolab has long-awaited the opportunity to eagerly expand into the US market. The plans, once stalled by the Covid-19 pandemic, are now finally coming to fruition. The Italian bistro and food hall aims to blend the comfort of grandma's recipes with a contemporary setting. The restaurant will be open from breakfast till dinner, with regular happy hours included, as reported by What Now New York. Managing Director Paolo Lanternari expressed his excitement, noting that the Financial District's energy is the perfect match for Nerolab's vibrant atmosphere.
In addition to the flagship location, the brand has plans to aggressively expand throughout the city, with a total of 10 restaurants envisaged by the end of 2025. This includes a separate coffee shop already operational within the Trump Building at 725 Fifth Avenue. Moreover, two sister bars are also in the pipeline, with one set to operate in the former bank vault at 40 Wall Street, specifically reserved for building employees, while the other will cater to tourists and workers at the same address.
As businesses work to fully recover from the pandemic's economic fallout, new ventures like Nerolab bestow a sense of revival and growth within the city. The spacious 21,500-square-foot ground-level location has been transformed from an empty shell into a bustling Italian food zone, a move likely to be well-received by locals and tourists alike seeking diverse dining experiences. With its holistic approach to Italian dining, Nerolab stands ready to become a go-to destination in the neighborhood, aiming to not only meet but exceed the culinary expectations of its future patrons.
