A 16-year-old girl from Roseville has been charged with felonious assault, following the stabbing of a 15-year-old Detroit boy at Campus Martius Park. The incident, occurring around 6:30 p.m. last Saturday, left the boy with a stab wound to the stomach, CBS Detroit reported.
According to authorities, an argument between the teens escalated when the girl allegedly pulled out a pocketknife to stab the boy several times. The victim was quickly taken to a local hospital and is said to have been in temporary serious condition at the time, as per a Detroit News statement. This violence follows another unfortunate event from previous years where two teens were shot during the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in 2022 at the same location.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and faced a preliminary hearing on Monday afternoon at the Juvenile Detention Facility in Wayne County's Criminal Justice Center. As reported by audacy, details on what sparked the initial argument have not been released.
