The Round Rock Police Department is inviting the community to step into the shoes of law enforcement with its Citizens Police Academy program set to begin this fall. As reported by the City of Round Rock's official news site, the department opens its doors for a 12-week educational experience, starting September 2, 2025. Participants will have the unique opportunity to explore the multifaceted nature of police work beyond the standard patrol.

With classes scheduled every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., attendees can anticipate hands-on involvement in various police tasks. They'll get a chance to engage in patrol scenarios, witness SWAT team operations, and gain a broad perspective of what the day-to-day life of a police officer entails. This peek behind the curtain will take place at the Round Rock Police Department's Main Training Room, located at 2701 N. Mays St.

Those who complete the program can further their involvement in local law enforcement through various community services. Graduates are eligible for additional training and volunteer activities such as the Citizens on Patrol program, enhancing their understanding and engagement with civic security practices. According to the City of Round Rock, alumni of the academy also gain access to the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA), fostering a prolonged connection between the police department and the community members they serve.
