On Wednesday, police responded to a shooting near Western Avenue and El Camino Avenue in Sacramento shortly before 3:15 a.m. They found an adult male with a gunshot wound. Fire personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene, as reported by the Sacramento Police Department.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators took control of the investigation, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Suspect information has not been released. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office notifies next-of-kin, as stated by the Sacramento Police Department.
According to the Sacramento Police Department on their Facebook page, they are asking the public for any information about the incident. Witnesses are urged to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information that helps solve the case.
