The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The incident happened near the intersection of 24th Street and Fruitridge Road. The bicyclist was seriously injured and later died. The vehicle left the scene before officers arrived, as reported by the Sacramento Police Department.
Officers responded to a traffic collision and located an adult male with serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital by fire personnel and later died from his injuries last Tuesday. The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit and crime scene investigators responded to the scene to conduct the investigation, which included processing the scene, interviewing witnesses, and canvassing the area.
According to the Sacramento Police Department on their Facebook page, 29-year-old Lamont Jackson of Sacramento was arrested on May 5 on hit-and-run charges. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
