San Bernardino County has taken a hard stance on crime with its latest 'Operation Consequences', a targeted crime suppression effort across several communities. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department led a series of interventions from May 19 through last Sunday, racking up a total of nine felony arrests and three misdemeanors. This intensive sweep was part of a broader crackdown supported by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, which aims to enhance law enforcement services and address quality-of-life issues.
Several locations were under the scanner during this period, with searches carried out in Adelanto, Johnson Valley, Cabazon, and Long Beach. According to the Sheriff's department, a cache of 13 firearms, which included two untraceable ghost guns, was seized during the operation. Known gang members and others prohibited from possessing firearms were contacted and apprehended. Over the week, investigators also intercepted and confiscated over 24 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, as reported by the Sheriff-Coroner Department, Shannon D. Dicus.
The funded initiative, authorized by the county's supervisors, deployed a mix of personnel, including the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, patrol stations, California Highway Patrol, and several other partnering agencies. The agencies focused on curbing violent crime and took aim at criminal street gangs, along with efforts to bring down illegal firearms possession, manufacturing, and trafficking.
"Operation Consequences will take place over the next several months to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing, and trafficking firearms," described the Public Affairs Division in a summary of the operation's goals.
